Church was awesome yesterday! We have been out of town for the holidays for a while, and while we had a great vacation, it was really good to get back where we belong. The people in our ward are so kind and thoughtful. They really make us feel like we are members of their individual families, and it is a great feeling.
So, during our fast and testimony meeting, my son Clark (7) got up and told the congregation a little parable that I loved. He said, "Satan is kind of like a fisherman, and we are kind of like the fish he is trying to catch. He tries to get us to eat the food that is on the hook (i.e. bait) so that he can catch us. But when we see that food, even though we might want it, we should just get away from it. Also, I know that our families will help us to get away from that food because they love us." Sweet huh? Simple truth. I'm with Clark, lets just stay away from whatever Satan is offering. There are some pretty strong strings attached.
9 (For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, because our days upon earth are a shadow:)
10 Shall not they teach thee, and tell thee, and utter words out of their heart?
11 Can the rush grow up without mire? can the flag grow without water?
12 Whilst it is yet in his greenness, and not cut down, it withereth before any other herb.
13 So are the paths of all that forget God; and the hypocrite's hope shall perish:
(Old Testament | Job 8:9 - 13)
Hope On!
